Tell me all about it, dear...

Lottery tickets are a voluntary tax on those who have no understanding of mathematics. Unfortunately, their stupidity tends to mean they are unsuccessful in many other ways and, despite their contribution of the price of their lottery tickets to the public treasury, they tend to have a negative effect on society in general.

I can think of a lot of things I could do with $3,000 a year too. Dang! Then again, we all have our demons. Hers must be gambling. To set aside health for a stupid game is really sad. Her soul must be in really bad shape.

I admire your fortitude in removing yourself to prevent emotional damage to others, or at least, the knowledge that it's you and not them. I usually don't recognize it and truly believe it's everyone else that is wrong and don't figure it out until it's passed, when the light comes on, and I feel more even keeled. But $57?? that's nuts. I can only hope it's a one time thing, but if it isn't, she has sacrificed her teeth for a dream, stupid.

*Sheepishly looks at the $5 scratcher she just bought* Well, at least I have FUN doing it, and my total expenditure on it is less than about $200 a year. I don't rent movies, or go out much of anywhere, and usually I can get a few bucks out of the deal...when I don't lose, that is. But $57??? That's just whacked! Maybe she's buying for a pool of people. Or maybe the taxpayers are supporting her lottery habit. My vote is on the latter.
