I can imagine the scone that you're describing and that sounds awesome. On top of the annoyance of having to deal with the cranky scone lady, I'd hate to have to keep going back to buy more. I have no idea how much these scones cost, it HAS to be cheaper to make them yourself. It almost sounds like the scones are like giant cookies, except with more moisture? You might be looking for a recipe that's some combination a cake, cookie and scone recipe.

Try soaking the dried fruit in juice (or alcohol!) for half an hour before adding it to the scone mixture.
