Tell me all about it, dear...

I stopped at an orchard on the way to Minnewaska yesterday. The woman at the register (most likely the owner) was a crank, too, but at least she kept the source of her bad mood to herself. Also, it is unimaginable for me to think of NOT the wrong change in the buyer's favor, just as it is unimaginable for me to think of the sales person not offering thanks. And while I haven't experienced the extreme level of discourtesy that you were treated to while trying to buy the scones, I do have to say that I can't remember the last time a person at a register thanked me for my business. My cousin Kathy is so bothered by this she says "You're welcome." I have been with her on several occasions to witness the puzzled look on the cashier's face. Some of them even ask what they should be thanking her for. She patiently explains that she gave them money (and her patronage), and common courtesy requires a thank you in return. I've only seen ONE person take this with good grace. Everyone else became angry, or rolled their eyes, or both. It's getting crazier and crazier out there!

Sigh. Here we go again with the errors. The previous comment should read "it is imaginable for me to think of NOT giving back the wrong change in the buyer's favor."

Okay, it's a conspiracy. I SWEAR I typed UNimaginable in my last comment. I am so certain, I am willing to take a lie detector test!!!!! :-)

That would be my last time there, too. A smiling face and good manners are basics for a business!

Maybe all of these people are related? Well, I know that you normally don't bake, but scones are actually pretty easy to make. Of course, you probably go there because there is something special about their scones, but maybe you can get a good recipe somewhere and Mick can chomp them down to his heart's content.

I buy all of my scones at Starbucks or Panera where they are forced to be nice to you. I LOVE scones!!!

Bad customer service is almost everywhere these days. I can't blame you for being irritated. Perhaps an e-mail to the orchard owner might do something?

And you are?
