Tell me all about it, dear...

Regarding algebra -- try Kahn's Academy -- https://www.khanacademy.org/ -- a free collection of excellent short tutorials including math. Kahn was an MIT wizard who put together some online tutorials (on algebra) to help his teenage nephews. This led to an awesome collection of tutorials (with some help from Bill Gates, who says he used Kahn's tutorials for his own kids). These are really good tutorials that can be paused, run again, etc.

I'm really surprised that Podunkville High doesn't offer summer school, yet the Catholic School does. It's the opposite here, and we allow people to register right up to (and including) the day summer school starts. By the way, I agree with you about Paula Deen. And running toilets.

Happy Birthday to Wolf! This year is beginning to feel like a rerun of 2009 with the Lyme. So sorry Mick is dealing with it. I am hoping I am not on this year's rotation. A. passed the math regents, just barely and is thrilled to have the summer free. Your district no offering summer school is a bit odd - don't they offer a redo on the regents that he can study for. Maybe another kid as tutor and a retake?

Fred's son just got over it and what an ordeal. He was barely able to work! I hope it goes well for Mick. Happy Birthday to the handsomest boy with the best name that I ever knew! And good luck with the appointment.

P.S. I've been reading some stuff that is causing me to reconsider my previous position on Paula Deen...

On Deen's case, sounds like something to be decided in court. I get your point (though I remember loudly objecting to the n-word in the 1980s, when Deen admitted to using it), but her former employee is claiming she used it in 2007. So the question becomes one of who's lying; I haven't followed the case closely enough to know if there's enough evidence to judge.

I hope you can find a tutor or some program to help Wolf get through the math Regent. I'm sure he will be successful. And I am so sorry that you have to deal with the husband being sick. I do know what that is like ~ except now mine has reason to be sad and feel like a victim. As for Paula Deen, I think she is being held up as a sacrifice because she has been so popular and done so much publically. She did tell the truth, her words to explain made her actions sound insincere although I am sure it was just her Southern speech patterns. I don't like the word but it isn't like she stole millions of dollars like Lance Armstrong did or had a financial plan that stole the savings of a lot of people. I hope she will come out of this. I think she has so many supporters that she will be able to revive her reputation in a few years.

The toilet leak isn't that hard to fix, you can replace all the innards of a toilet for $30 or so, including the gasket between the tank and the seat portion (although that isn't likely your problem, you would have water ion the floor not the bowl). Not at all hard to replace either, although you do need to drain the tank and dry it out. Check out the DIY sites for instructions, really not hard at all.

I agree with Terri T and Jim; those Kahn's Academy exercises are excellent and surely Podunkville has at least one math whiz who can use a few bucks? Or a good meal? I thought people were really jumping ole Paula's shit over old news but the plantation wedding idea? That wasn't that long ago. And it will make you think, Paula, OH GIRL, WTF? I do admit that I am very sensitive to any sort of racial slur, though, so I'm not the most objective person. Lyme disease is awful, poor Mick. But also, poor L.A. I have a little money saved if you ever need bail, sweetie.
