There's always the possibility that your ex is just an asshole and that the AS is far from the only problem. I do know a couple of women married to people on the spectrum who are actually pretty happy. I also know a 9-year-old aspie who is one of the most caring people you'd ever hear about. In her case, at least, the reason is plain: she has loving parents who have done a whole LOT of work to help her become that person ... just as you have with Wolf. (Then again, I also know a very sweet 19-year-old high functioning aspie whose parents are nearly as good as yours. She did at least have some good role models: after her mom kicked her out, a friend's parents took her in to finish out high school. She has a lot of online support, too, that I'm proud to be a part of.)
