Heehee! I love those 'big kid' talks. Mums of toddlers have it eeeeeaaaasy! s x PS Dont know if you remember Capt Skiver, my erstwhile co-worker? He died of breast cancer. At the time, another d'lander commented me and said a man at her hospital didnt want them to put that as a cause of death on his death certificate (he wasnt long for this world), because it was 'a ladies disease'.

Nicely done. Our daughter (Jill) had been delivered via C-section and when Nancy was pregnant with Jeremy she switched to a female ob/gyn and we enrolled in a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarian) class & training program (lots of exercises, etc.) -- when it was our turn to host the group meeting, Jill watched the childbirth videos with us. When Nancy went into labor we were actually hoping for a home delivery (we were only two blocks from hospital in case of need) and so we had two nurse/midwives (who had co-taught the VBAC course) plus a birthing coach with us (and one of the midwives was a nursing mother with her infant with her). Jill, as a 3 year old, took this all in stride. When Adam (a high school junior, four months short of being 17) came home from school and looked at us -- 3yr old Jill + Nancy in labor doing breathing exercises, the three women plus a baby + me -- all gathered in the living room, he asked me if I would mind if he crashed at his mother's house that night so that he "wouldn't be in the way." (Adam is from my first marriage.) Since I think it is important that kids have knowledge about sex and birth and such but that they don't have to watch, I told him okay.

p.s. After 30+ hours of labor, we gave up and went to the hospital where Jeremy was delivered via Caesarian but Nancy says at least she knew that it was a required procedure rather than a convenient choice.

I think you are amazing. Your son is going to be so well informed that he will be the "go to" person in his group of friends.

oh great gravy, what an idea! If your whole day were laid out before you, when you wake up.... lol! What if it were laid out like a menu, and you had choices... No, wait, it IS sorta like that now... but no guarantees that your appetizer's gonna arrive before your entree... and stuff... took the metaphor too far again? lol! Kudos on the excellent parenting, as usual!

Hey, I appreciate the heads up. I swear nobody ever tells me anything so it's nice to hear. Heck I never knew how early boys become obsessed (well that's strong, maybe attached?) to their penis. I actually have to say the words "no playing with your penis in time out". Totally unprepared.

The best "teachable moments" happen in the car. I think it's because you don't have to look at each other! Yay for you, and yay for Wolf too.

And you are?
