Tell me all about it, dear...

Sounds like the new school is very laid-back. Hopefully Wolf will transition in quite nicely and have a great year too. I bet he will have a lot of stories to tell about the various types of attire too.

Glad to hear that what was a possible BIG snafu, wasn't. I guess they don't do check-ins there like they do here. The High Schoolers check in at the school they are attending about a week before classes begin and get their photo IDs, lockers, schedules etc. and most importantly, pay all those fees, so you can make sure everything is correct before school starts. They've really streamlined it too so a 2200+ student population gets all checked-in alphabetically in 2 days. And seniors get a quick visit with a counselor to make sure they have all the credits they need lined up on their schedules so no surprise...oops! you need another elective or PE 1/2 credit or some such thing at the end of the year.

Glad that all ironed itself out and that it seems like a good place. Like you, I take the presence of an out and proud gay boy as a very good sign. I've started a new open blog at annanotbob2 but it seems to be having problems posting entries. Sending a big squishy hug - these have been some tough old times, haven't they?

Coincidentally, Adam and I had the same conversation about equal rights, a week or so ago. He asked me what I thought the major social issues will be in 30 years. He said, "Whatever it is, I don't want to end up being one of those dinosaurs clinging to obsolete ideas and making myself look ridiculous." I suggested that in 30 years that maybe it will finally be mainstream to talk about animal rights, in which case, hell be ahead of the curve.

Wow, I'm impressed (and relieved) that things went so smoothly. I hope the rest of Wolf's day went just as well!

That's impressive for ANY school. Good for you, and good for Wolf. Here's hoping it's indicative of the way the rest of his time there will go. Also cool about the gender-identity factor. My younger daughter's BFF is gay so we've always taken it for granted, but I've seen the flipside of ignorance and intolerance within my own family. I'm sure you're right about our future views on the subject.

I know what you mean about bone health. During a checkup, around the time I turned 30, my doctor asked me how much milk I drink. I told her that I have a container of yogurt a day. She told me that wasn't nearly enough calcium! Since then, I've been making the effort to take a supplement. I didn't get good about taking it daily until this year.

And you are?
