Tell me all about it, dear...

Great list! I'd add The Producers (the original, not the musical remake) because it's Broadway, baby! And maybe Breakfast at Tiffany's - it's the NY store that's iconic in that one. As for my geographically placed favorites... hmm. I'll have to give it some thought!

Brighton Rock (the original with Richard Attenborough) and Quadrophenia are the two classics made here, though there's also 'London to Brighton' - a recent low budget indie. They filmed the recent remake of Brighton Rock in Eastbourne, 30 miles along the coast - haven't seen it yet but would definitely recommend the original. There are also films made in the area where I grew up - Far From the Madding Crowd is lush, and Tamara Drewe gives a mental view of English country life.

Place movies (not just NY, right?)--To Kill a Mockingbird for sure. Also Field of Dreams. Together they cover my midwestern and southern roots nicely. Love, love, love to you, who've been on my mind if not in my sent mail. XOXO K

I lost interest in Woody Allen for a long time because of the affair with his step-daughter. Yuck. But I did cave and go to see Barcelona, and liked it. Parts of Nobody's Fool were filmed here in PoTown, but there weren't any Paul Newman sightings for me, unfortunately. Besides some of the movies you mentioned, my favorite New York films include On the Town, West Side Story, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Rosemary's Baby, Midnight Cowboy, Taxi Driver, The Godfather, All That Jazz, The Goodbye Girl, An Unmarried Woman, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale, Being John Malkovich, and Black Swan.

I've only seen some of those movies, but loved those I've seen. I tend not to remember locations on films; that would require paying attention, lol. (Does Rivendell count?) The only other one that sticks with me is Raising Arizona, back when Nicolas Cage was relevant. Makes me think, though. My oldest son's a would-be cinematographer/producer who's been on my case for eons to write him a movie script. Maybe I should write something Phoenix-centric.

My favorite NY movie is the old original The Out of Towners with Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis. John Dillinger was active and rather famous in NW Indiana. The newest "Dillinger" was filmed in parts here locally, and even Johnny Depp was here. I wasn't about to get in the middle of THAT crowd to get a glimpse.

It's hard to think of many upper midwest flicks off the top of my head. Fargo was good but not that great. Yes some people talk like that but most of them are over 70. Other things were dead on.
