Tell me all about it, dear...

For me, when it seems like the whole world has gone crappy, I really like hearing other people talk about their happy stuff. It's a nice reminder that the Earth is still rotating, life is going on, and that good things are still possible. Also, hey, we got our hair cut on the same day!

I LOVE your new car, it's fabulous. Now I'll be wanting one too (for a long, long, long time, sigh). Glad things are happy there, no one deserves it more. XO K

That Lincoln is a nice-looking car (and doesn't look like an old-style Lincoln). I know what you mean about sharing the happiness. It's difficult for me, because things are good for us emotionally and financially, and while I don't mind talking about being happy, I've been poor(ish) before, it's not impossible I'll be poor again, and I don't ever want to sound like "tra la, bought diamonds and caviar today, off to Rio next weekend" when so many I know are hurting. On the other hand, I know a lot of people really like hearing about our travels and adventures either because they might want to follow us some day or because they like armchair travel. (Which is why the mention of my birthday present from Ted/next adventure is a one-line mention buried low in a blog entry.) I learned to like people who appreciate other's happiness from a former coworker. If you told him "I'm buying a house", he'd ask about it instead of saying "Let me tell you about the one *I* bought, as so many people do." (We got married and bought houses in similar time frames, so there were plenty of chances to reciprocate.) I leaned a lot from that guy just in general about how to be a good person; I should write about him someday.

Nice car! Sure doesn't look like the old boats that were around 20 years ago.. and there's a lot to be said about having a NICE car. Congrats!
