Tell me all about it, dear...

Well, to me, having good hygiene and being semi-decent when I leave the house isn't so much because I'm worried about what people will think of me. I think of it as being polite and considerate to others; no different than smiling and being pleasant. Maybe Im out of the loop, but in my experience, MOST people do not have glamorous jobs, and most people are only working to get paid. I think the majority of people out there have enough perspective and sense to not judge you for who signs your checks. And, like you said, if they do, who cares? You dont want to know those people, anyway.

I'm spending my snow day blissfully alone, reading, gazing at the flaming log in the fireplace, listening to classical music, drinking hot tea, napping, and/or whatever else my heart desires. Ahhh, I needed that. Good luck with the job hunt!

When I worked on the Space Station trainer, we had a lot of engineers who had gotten caught in another company's layoff and been out of work a while before they landed with us. My cubemate ended up in the hospital from the stress of being out of work - I think work was the real center of her life. (Even though, knowing her, she probably had more-than adequate savings to get through rough times.) But the guy I respected most had spent a stint working in a gas station, despite being a rocket scientist (well, aerospace engineer). He was also an Orthodox priest, but apparently that's either not a paying gig or not fulltime. But he had four kids to feed and he did the work that would let him take care of them.

If it's an honest job, you get a few pennies and even some benefits; it is all good. Getting outside of the house may give you more ideas for writing anyway....Good luck.

Working with the public will DEFINITELY give you more ideas for writing! Good luck!

It's interesting to observe the reactions of people when they learn that Joe works at Lord and Taylor - sometimes there's a definite "look" that says, "oh, just retail?" Yah. It pays the bills and it's work. I'm proud of him!
