Obviously it is a guy thing and kudos to you for seeing it that way. What a great bonding moment for the two men in your life. Reminds me of when we first got HBO back in the day and my husband allowed our son to watch THE WILD GEESE with all that bad language....it didn't hurt him and they soon were enjoying many movies together....
