Tell me all about it, dear...

Oh you'd love our well-worn, tattered, dusty, old house, then! Pristine doesn't do it for me. Good thing, too. We have dogs!

Said so well. It sound like your lovely rug is more of a magic carpet.

I agree.....we have a kitchen table that was a wedding gift to my husband's grandparents....and it still makes me happy to see it. I have an old powder container that belonged to one of his relatives and it still has the scent of the powder....I just love having it...

I agree with you wholeheartedly about not putting things away. If they are stored away, they really aren't a part of your life - you were just the owner they passed through. Your entry jogged my memory of the only things I have that are still in their original packaging. They are two Barbie dolls my husband bought me years ago. He insisted I not take them out of the boxes and at that time I had no reason to. (I was actually trying to figure out why the hell he bought them for me!) They are somewhere in the back of my closet and I am planning to find them, dust them off and hand theM right to my grandaughter the next time she comes to PA. :)

I'm with you. What's the point of having something if you can't enjoy it? By the way, I'd love to hear the story of how you came to own that rug.

Amen to that! The only power imbued in an object arises from use and intent and touch and heart. My kids have twice given me collectable figures (one from Star Trek and one from the X Files.) I loved both Star Trek and the X Files, but the dolls are sitting collecting dust on my shelf, and I barely know they're there. I'd rather have a simple, inexpensive rock that I rub between my fingers, absorbing its eons of cumulative strength.

And you are?
