Tell me all about it, dear...

1. If all you want to do is play music, you have absolutely no need for an iPod Touch. 2. I have not found that a bigger iPod is any slower or harder to find music on than a smaller one. It's listed alphabetically, and you can see it by song title, artist or album. 3. Or you can set up playlists, which are the digital equivalent of making mix tapes. 4. If you have the extra $30, I'd say go for it. You may find yourself buying more music because iTunes makes it very easy, is significantly cheaper than buying CDs, and has all kinds of obscure stuff. My last two album purchases were from Kimberly M'Carver (country-folkie out of Texas) and Archie Fisher (Scottish singer, more of a trad folkie) 5. And if you want to spend less you can buy individual songs - so for example I have Radar Love without having to get whatever else came on its one-hit-wonder album.

My computer recommendation is always to get the most memory your budget will allow. My iPod experience is that once you get into using one, you will want to get more and more and more, and maybe some videos (if it holds videos.) If it's only $30 more, I would get that one, if I were buying. I already want more memory in my iPhone, since I now use it for everything, but I'll wait until a suitable new model comes out.

Go big! iPods are like boots. You will fill them. God, what a stupid analogy. Kinda funny though, huh?

I'm going against the grain here and saying that the Nano is better than the bigger iPod, due to durability. My shuffle and my nano have outlived 2 iPods.

get the big one. for $30 bucks more, its worth it, and if you don't you regret it by year end. @ kim - i agree with the small ipod's durability, but i didn't like the shuffle at all because i couldn't see the song names.

I love, love, love my iPod, I have the 8g and I haven't filled it yet, but then again, I haven't really started to shift my CD collection to my iPod. I'd say, go large. Especially if you do any videos, which are wonderful if you have time to kill and want something mindless to do while waiting somewhere.

I know nothing about the IPods but the Close-N-Play....loved it. I got one for my toddler son and he could put the records on the spindle and close it and have his own music. He loved it and it was so durable too. He called it his "ecore ray...".....record player...

My 16g ipod Nano is at full capacity and is holding 834 tunes. I note you are looking to store about 400 tunes. Given the small price differential in relation to the storage available, I'd respectfully recommend going for 16g model. You might well become an i-pod fiend and be keen to upload every cd in in your home! Hope you enjoy you're new ipod, whatever model you go with.

I'd pay the extra $30.
