Tell me all about it, dear...

Dang germs.. both A. and I have it now although I don't have a cough (yet). the throat is on fire though and I didn't sleep a wink because some numbskull thought it would be cool to pour battery acid into my sinuses.... I hope everyone is recovered quickly cuz this is just gross!

Light exercise just enough to break a sweat helps if the cold is just in your head once it is on your chest no exercise. Oh and this only applies if you aren't head swimmy or feeling truly awful. If you are feeling minor icky exercise will help your immune system kick the bug by taking your temperature up, if you are already running a fever your body can't spare the energy! Though as in all things exercise your milage may vary. Hope the crud goes away. Oh and from the few times I have taught in-service daya are spent planning where to bury the bodies! (Just kidding!) Hugs Bels

I'm sorry you feel so awful and hope you get well soon! As for Conference Days, we need a kegger after sitting through those things! Sheer torture!

Feel better soon! Take it easy. And no more crashing to the floor!

Right...you need to be driving on the roads and get highheaded and pass out - just to get some exercise...That works every time. Sure hope the hot bath helps and that Wolf feels much better by tomorrow. As I recall, my teacher sister says those in-service days suck. Lots of lecturing about their duties and lots of demands, lots of the unpaid chores piled on, bennies taken away and then they have to sit all day.

Please don't be offended if I say...I am glad you are way over there and I am over here because I have not gotten sick and do not plan to. I am sorry you are, though, and hope you wake up feeling much better soon. I did just have a 2 day sinus headache and waking up today , finally without it, made my day 100 X's better. That and it's also finally above frigid, a balmy sunny 46 degrees and my extra cranky in the cold garage "semi-automatic" garage door will now close all on it's own with a push of a button again. Small things make me happy.

It's been three and a half decades since I taught high school, but I remember them as being a day filled with meetings... long and boring boring, painfully long and painfully boring. At least ninety percent of the day was an idiotic waste of my time.

Bels has it right - the general rule is that it's OK to exercise if the illness is just in your head, but not if it's gotten to your chest. I agree with her caveat too - if you really feel crappy, no matter where the crud is centered, don't work out. Your body has better things to do, like fight off invaders, than puch a treadmill around. And if what you have is really flu and not just a cold, going back to your normal routine too soon can bring on a relapse. (Ask me how I know.) I know that working at home because your health won't permit anything else doesn't feel like a luxury - but the one luxury it does come with is the ability to mostly control your own timing and place. Take advantage of that while you're sick - let yourself have the downtime you need. Also, one other point: no one else in the gym really *wants* you and your germs there!

Those 'in service' meeting days, where I work, are completely retarded. Mandatory waste of time, where the office folks, who don't know, provide useless "trainings" on irrelevant stuff or stuff we're doing already. My favorite bug remedy is hot ginger tea with honey, cayenne and lemon.

Oh, and I don't exercise unless I'm feeling 100%, especially if it's a headcold or sinus thing. Raising my heart rate when I already have sinus headache pain turns it into migraine level pain. My DH used to argue about this as he would want me to go running with him when I already had a headache, you know, work thorugh it, tough it out, you'll feel better! tried it once, never again, nor do I actually run anymore, a quick pace walk or the elliptical is plenty for me and my old joints these days.
