Tell me all about it, dear...

Just keep the tree up and wait to Wolfe goes back to school...no wait, Mick goes back then too! As far as a gift, I can never think of anything for the Hub - so I just take him to the store and wait until he stops to look at something for more than 3 minutes and then I'll say, "You want that for Christmas?" Not romantic, but at least I know he's getting something that he wants!

I'm with ya on the phone thing. Oh I DO love to talk on it, and my sis and I are pretty much calling each other constantly, but as far as model and design goes, I need a phone to look and feel like a phone, and that's it. No apps, no tricks, no internet. My husband who gives himself everything is getting an xm radio for the car, a knitted hat and a funky coin counting thing that records the total...a man's piggy bank.

I like the idea of you under the tree with a bow attached! He'd totally appreciate that!

I'm a phone Luddite, too, and my little flip phone suits me just fine on the rare occasions when I actually use it. Yesterday, I witnessed the craziest thing. I was standing outside a dressing room at H&M while Leigh was trying stuff on. A girl was standing next to me, waiting for her friend, who was in a dressing room directly in front of, and not one foot away, from the girl next to me. I burst out laughing when I heard the one outside say to the one inside, "Text me." Unbelievable!

Me too, on the flip phone. I had a perfectly good phone but my 2 years were up and DH was going to the phone store anyway and asked if I wanted a new one. I said not really, mine works, but he insisted so I said, OK, but only the free one, I'm not paying for a new phone. So I ended up with a slightly different version of the same little flip phone. It has a camera I don't use and I can't text , unless I have about half an hour to do so, so yeah. Hubby has a Blackberry for business and once in a while he asks me to do something on it and I can't even see the numbers they are so small and forget trying to do anything else there is WAY too much crap on there. And regarding gifts, we've been married for 30 years, so gifts these days consist of "What would you like?" as our days grow numbered there is no time for returning and with money tight there is no room for don't need, can't use , won't fit etc. I usually find something smaller for the surprise element but that's about it.

I've noticed that most men like well placed bows ;)

I'm with you on what to buy for the menfolk.....other than the standard new shirts or socks- it's difficult. I got my husband a CD of an old country singer he mentioned last month and two older movie DVDs (then he announced he had figured out how to copy the DVDS our son lent him ...guess which ones they were! Yeah!) As for well placed bows, just remember the blog I wrote about putting bows in tender spots on my chest while waiting in a water bed. OUCH.....

Get him and old time shaving mug, straight razor and leather strop. If he does not use them for shaving maybe you could come up with other fun activities.

perhaps you could give him a coupon book for naughty deeds to be redeemed at a kid free time. If nothing else it would give him something to think about - LOL

I'm lucky. My husband is like a little kid. He wants everything he sees and he craves gadgets. I've been fighting him for over a year trying to convince him he does NOT need a Keurig one cup coffee machine!!! So I found a smaller version at Target and he is getting one for Christmas. It will get used once or twice and then out to the garage it will go, and eventually to the landfill along with the salad shooter and george foreman grill. I have yet to get that pizza cooker thing in the trash, but its time is coming.

I'm with you on phones. I thing phones should be able to make and receive phone calls. Having said that, my eldest child & his wife each have an iPhone and they love them and use them all the time to take pictures and e-mail them to people (and I like getting pictures of the grandkids in e-mail so that's good) and looking up stuff on the Internet, etc. I have no desire to spend that much on a phone nor on monthly service charges. (In fact, I'm probably going to dump my Verizon phone account and grab a TracPhone or some other cheap pre-paid phone -- I don't do the kind of business travel I used to do, I just want a phone for emergencies or to phone home from the supermarket to have someone look in the refrigerator to see if we need milk.)
