Tell me all about it, dear...

I've been sitting here trying to remember if any of my childhood birthdays were cool enough to leave me with a great memory, but I'm coming up short. Waterslides, barbeque, cake and balloons? Now THAT'S a birthday memory to hang on to. Wolf will definitely have something to brag about tomorrow at summer school! Both of your kids are incredibly lucky to have such an awesome mom. Congrats on such a successful shindig. ;-)

That present sounds awesome! Yay for your party! You are such a great and sensible mom. And good advice about appreciating home. All I can see as we think about moving are the flaws...but SOMEONE is going to walk in this house, suck in their breath and go "yeah, this is HOME".

Sounds like a great party Wolf had, I guess our kids were sixteen or so when we did a "bash" for them. They each had had one super birthday about 8 years old and then conventional birthdays between. Just thinking about feeling at home. Many years ago when I worked at a furniture store I would be grunt man for the store's interior decorator. After everything looked museum perfect, he would add a few touches, magazines on the coffee table with one open and the rest not really neat and squared away. A man's pipe, humidor and ashtray pulled out of hiding and put on an occasional table. A few little things like that and the museum environment became a home.
