According to Better Homes and Gardens I am encouraging my plants to be lazy and shallow(rooted). How embarrassing. And here I thought I was a decent mom. I’m watering my garden improperly. I was feeling all biggety because I remembered to water, and I find out I’m all wet when it comes to irrigation. (ugh, sorry) Today I watered the garden plants deep. Sogged those puppies right out. I’m not supposed to water again for 2 days. This will be difficult to pull off. One, I’m a dingbat. By tomorrow I will forgotten all about the Deep Watering Builds Strong Roots thing. I swear, I should change my name to LA the Dip. Sieve-brain, a menopausal goodie right up there with hot flashes and shrieking fits, has rendered me as dumb as a box of rocks. My Rasta lifestyle does NOT help matters. You know why Rastas have dreads? They can never remember their appointments at the salon! Two, once I see the soil start to lighten up I’ll feel sorry for my plants and give them ‘just a little sip’. It would be mean not to, poor things in this heat. Three, Mike knows what a dip I am these days and will water on the sly, believing he needs to save me from my mental deficiencies with a minimum of embarrassment. Four, Wolf plays with the hose. He is not allowed to play in the garden, but I encourage him to point the hose toward the flower beds. Less waste. We have a nice well, no worries there. It’s just the ‘lawn’ is 98% clover and dandelions and do we really need to keep them thriving? Well lookee here. All this blather about watering and it just now started to rain. Figures. Good night, ~LA
