I am pooped!

Whoo doggies, I went so many places today I am stunned. I had my chauffeur Alex, of course, so it was much easier.

1st stop- the eye doc's. Whee! New glasses! Boo! Bifocals. The tawny lenses in the new sunglasses are wonderful. Not as dark as my aviators, the amber tint puts a lovely glow on everything. Grass is greener. Red transmutes into crimson washed with gold. I spent my time in the car just gawking at how beautiful everything was. The difference was as striking as that scene in "The Wizard of Oz" when Dorothy swings open the door and POW! it goes from B&W to Technicolor.

I walked out the doc's laughing because my purse was jammed full of spectacle cases. The 3 new pair each had a hard shell case, plus there was the case I used for my old sunglasses and a case I carry my tampons in. 5 glasses cases is a bit much for one purse.

2nd stop- the video store. Just a drop-off.

3rd stop- Well, I had wanted to go to the shoe store, but it wasn't open yet. So we went to Dunkin' Donuts. I had a decaf and read the paper while the boys pigged out on donuts. Wolf had the other patrons smiling because he was The Happiest Boy Ever! He had a chocolate donut with SPRINKLES!! His utter delight over the sprinkles was really very sweet and funny.

4th stop- NOW we could get into the Payless. New sandals for Wolf and new sandals for me. It was "Buy 1, Get the Next for 50%" so I got a terrif pair of sandals for $5.50 and was almost as happy as Wolf had been about the sprinkles.

5th stop- the bank. Alex piloted the behemoth Bronco through the narrow drive-thru lane pretty well, but came this )( close to clipping the mirror. But for that and a couple of FBI turns (too fast, tires squealing), he did really well today behind the wheel.

6th stop- the park. Wolf needed to burn off some energy (and that donut) so we took him over to the county park. Surprise! My friend Lisa's husband and kids were there! Wolf was ecstatic to find his good buddy at the park and Alex and I had someone to talk to besides each other. A nice time was had by all.

Home again for a bit. Then out the door to stop #7, the mall. Got some wee blue clothes for the brand new Dairybaby. It was fun shopping the infant's dept. There were some adorable sunsuits and I mourned that Wolf was too big for them. When he was a little guy I dressed him in one piece outfits a lot. Tidier than trying to keep a toddler's shirt tucked in and even with a diaper beneath Wolf's tiny heinie meant most shorts just slid right off his bony shanks.

Made another raid on FYE's dwindling video selections and picked up "Dead Poets Society" (pure schmaltz, I know), "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", and "Escape From New York". Gotta love that Snake Plissken.

Hot Topic to giggle over the t-shirts and Wolf got his second piece of jewelry, a rubber bracelet with Cookie Monster on it. Wolf's first piece of jewelry is a neck chain with a silver wolf medallion on it. I don't let him wear it yet. He's too heedless and likely to strangle himself.

My butt was really starting to drag by then, so home again. I rested. Wolf came in and out several times for snuggles. I also tried to adjust to reading through the bifocals. This is going to take some practice, but it was a pleasure to see the print clearly again.

And now I am just in from stop #8- the hospital. Mike and I went up to see the new baby. He's adorable! Dairybride's labor was so short that the baby didn't have time to get all squashed up. His nose is a cute button and his head is round and COVERED with beautiful golden hair. No duck fuzz, this kid has real hair. A whole head full. Amazing. I got to hold him and that was nice. Funny, I didn't have a single baby pang. I was glad enough to cuddle the wee mannie, but had no desire to make a new one of my own. Yuppers, the baby making factory is definitely shut down.

Gads, I forgot the best part! I went out without my stick! I'm WALKING!!! Really walking! And the only time I banged into things was when I sighted wrong through the new lenses. Wonderful! A walking day! A blessedly, normally functioning, upright day.

Smiling through my yawns, ~LA

0 Wanna talk about it!
